Interests and How Will You Build Upon Them at College EssayDo you really want to answer the question, 'What are your interests and how will you build upon them at college essay?' Most of us do. If you put in the effort to figure out what you want to do when you grow up, you will be much better prepared to be successful when the time comes to fill out your application and write a college essay.One way to make your college essay more interesting is to use it as a vehicle for exploring what kind of person you are. For example, if you grew up as a fan of the comic book Spiderman, what are your interests and how will you build upon them? Perhaps you will say, 'I like art and literature and if I go to college I will try to use art and literature as a tool to better myself.'Or perhaps you might say, 'I love sports but I really want to use sports as a way to better myself as a person.' You can use your college essay as a vehicle to explore what skills you have that other people do not have. If you are interested in sports, you can say, 'The person who could best teach me about sports is the person who is currently coaching the team, the best coach would be the person who enjoys coaching as much as I do.' That is an excellent example of something you can say on your college essay.Another great example is if you love cooking. You can say, 'If I were given the chance to get a degree in culinary arts I would use that degree to better myself as a cook. The cook who could do that would be the person who loves cooking as much as I do.'Use these examples to get started on your quest to get the type of education you want. Take some time and find out what your interests are before you begin writing your college essay. That will help you avoid any mistakes that may happen during the writing process.Many people make the mistake of just writing about themselves. They think, 'If I just tell the story about who I am then that will be enough for my college essay.' In reality, they sho uld be writing about their interests and how will they build upon them at college.Instead of saying, 'If I get into the College of Arts and Sciences this year I will be looking forward to getting a final test at the end of the year so I can graduate early,' you might say, 'If I get a D in that final test, I will not only be disappointed but also I will also wish I had done better than a C or B.' You might also say, 'Since the College of Arts and Sciences is just so popular I am guessing that if I do get and I will be one of the very few that gets into the College of Arts and Sciences.'You can avoid making the common mistakes by examining your passions and your interests before you begin writing your college essay. When you find out, you will be well on your way to writing a successful college essay that will provide some insight into what you want to do in life.
